GPS Reviews: Magellen eXplorist 600 rated highest of GPS Receivers in Wired Mag Review

In July Wored Magazine reviewd several handheld GPS receivers and they rated the Magellan eXplorist 600 tops, with the Garmin eTrex Vista C close behind. While they only commented on four total GPS receivers, I think that they are on target with their analysis. The target use for them was to have a handheld GPS receiver for use in the backcountry (as well as on the road as a nice little bonus). They liked the eXplorist 600 for its top quality maps (included), and some of the key features like its expandability via the SD slot, the built in thermometer and barometer, and the ability to easily handle data on the PC. The Vista C was liked for its routing capability, screen colors and its long bettery life. See the full commentary here at the Wired Mag site. Note: Money Magazine also rated the Megellan eXplorist 600 highest in their recent review. Read more HERE.
