Magellan releases the RoadMate 760

Magellan announced the release of the RoadMate 760GPS Portable Auto Navigator. The new RoadMate 760 is based on the successful RoadMate 700, but adds some convenient features like the text to speech option that announces upcoming street names.

The new model also offers the SmartDetour feature that is designed to help get users around traffic jams. Traveling to multiple destinations? The RoadMate760 has the ability to work on multi-destination routing and travel, optimizing for the shortest route between them. Of course it comes loaded with millions of Points of Interest, and has the expected features like a color touchpad screen, and a spell ahead system for typing in a word or an address. One interesting and potentially critical feaure is the optional Advanced Cradle that allows for installation on an external antenna, which can be important in RV's or large Trucks. The maps include North America, (US, Canada, Puerto Rico), and the ability to unlock up to 25 European countries (extra charge). Street Price $1,099
