GPS Review: Mio 269 GPS/MP3 Player
The Mio 269
is an interesting blend of GPS / Sat Nav with a beautiful screen and a hard drive with the added ability to play MP3s. So, do you really need an MP3 player that does navigation and vice versa? Why not?
It has a 2.5 GB hard drive (500 MB free for MP3s), and is pre-loaded with maps. While the input of a destination is difficult, the voice navigation is good. The folks over at the Inquirer liked this device overall, and found that its pocketability and accuracy in getting you from here to there. Teh portability is abig plus - from the car to the bike and on the go in general we like this feature. They didn't like the fact that you can't change the voice that gives you directions like many other devices on the market - TomTom GO 300
comes to mind with optional voices like John Cleese. However, like others on the market, it is smart enough to recalculate directions on the fly when you make a wrong turn or decide to deviate from the route it planned for you. A big plus that can not go unmentioned is the fact that the Mio 269
has a hard drive with all of your maps on it; no downloading, no switching of SD cards, just go. Read more: The Inquirer
