GPS Review: Another Positive Review for Mio 269

Another first hand review has popped up for the Mio 269, and they generally give it the thumbs up. You can see our other posings on the Mio 269 for background: Announcement, and then first review from the Inquirer.

Again, the Mio 269 is a handheld GPS receiver that combines a large color screen with a 2.5GB hard drive loaded with on board maps, and 500MB available for user loaded data like MP3's for use with the onboard MP3 player. It has a Lithium Ion battery for about 4 hours of use, and is of generally high finish quality. There is a long list of minor annoyances listed, one of the most disturbing is that it's not waterproof; one splash could kill you if you have this thing outside. On the plus side there are such items such as a Home Button that navigates you home from where ever you are, and its user friendly interface.

I have a Miomap digiwalker and have had it less than a year. The charger for the car has continued to give me problems since the unit was purchased and is virtually non functional now. The charger receiver in the bottom of the Miomap is problematic and charging has become more and more difficult even with the computer charger. I have a blackberry which uses the USB mini B plug for charging and it is superb as the plug is solid and along the side. If the Miomap had a plug like this, I think the unit would be much more robust and have lasted significantly longer. Please consider changing your design to accomodate a more robust charger plug and receiver as the rest of the product is very nice. I would also like to suggest that there be a place where you could add addresses into the unit and have them remain there for ever or at least until you choose to delete them.
