GPS News: Fine Drive 300
Fine Drive has released the Fine Drive 300, a flash memory based automotive GPS device. It has 128MB internal memory with additional expandability in an SD slot. It gives you turn by turn voice guidance for easy directions, and NAVTEQ maps of the US and Canada. The big 3.8 inch color LCD touch screen and remote control (optional) make it easy to see and use.

It connects to your computer via USB cable, and allows you to download maps along with points of interest available on the detialed maps cds that come with the unit (contains 3 cd's). You can find a destination by Address, Intersection, POI, Favorites, Recent Destination, and you can go to the destination with 2D/3D map views and various detailed voice instructions. Not a bad looking device.
The suggested retail price for the Fine Drive 300 is around $400. I would compare the Fine Drive 300 vs. the Magellan Roadmate 300 vs. the Garmin c320 - all of which are also flash based products. The Magellan RoadMate 300 and StreetPilot c320 also include voice turn by turn directions.

I own a finedrive 300, a Garmin and Magellan GPS unit. By far Finedrive is the worst. The service was slow, when it quit working and I have yet to see a map upgrade for my system.
I would not purchace another Finedrive.
