Singletracks.com Mountain Biking GPS Track Repository

Singletracks.com website is a good little websote that holds a fair amount of information about hundreds of mountain bike trails across the country. While the site still has a ways to go on bulking up the database, maybe you can help. They have a few hundred maped trail locaitons with directions to and from the trailheads of the trails. Each trail has a few comments posted about the trail itself. The newest feature called "Trax" is the ability to upload and download GPS tracks for mountain bike trails.
The upsides on the GPS Trax feature are the ability to find and ride new trail rides with the confidence of knowing where you are going. The downside is that since the added service is a pay service, there are only a few dozen trails up in the database. The downside is that this is a fee based service, and as a result, the number of uploaded trails is only in the dozens in the entire country. If you want to see for yourself, click />Singletracks.com and then click on the "GPS" link to get to the GPS Trax information.

The concept is a good one, and they have a decent page on each track that they have in the database (see right). You can download in *.gpx format and then upload to your GPS. They also have Google Earth formatting available to allow you to fly through the route before biking it. A nice touch.
In the end though they are in the building phase and need some more GPS track content. Don't know the costs and such, but they might open up the GPS Trax feature for free while they build the content, and then charge.... it's not worth the money at this point for the handful of GPS mapped trails.
You should still check out the site for its list of hundreds of trails that don't have GPS track data. It's a nice bunch of information.
