Keychain based Personal GPS Unit - Navicom
This latest GPS tracking device from Navicom is small enough to be placed on a keychain, but features a full set of GPS functionality. The C-TRAC GPS Personal Tracker has unlimited GPS tracking/locating, an E911 emergency feature, and even a push-button concierge service akin to GM's OnStar - working through the cellular network. Since its E911 functions work through a cellular network, don't expect help to come running when you hit the call button from 100 miles away deep in the back woods. Other features include a two-way speaker phone, programmable buttons for one-touch dialing, a USB port, and 256k flash memory.
The C-TRAC GPS Personal Locator has a unique geofence feature which can be used to report to authority or control center when the object is out of the pre-defined area. It's ideal for school security, field trips, correctional departments, home arrest, law enforcement or vehicle dealerships. The C-TRAC GPS Personal Locator has a built in high sensitivity GPS receiver which can provide indoor and under bridge location capability where normal GPS is unable to do so.
Each unit costs $480 if you get it directly from Navicom. The price includes an unlimited 1-year GPS service. There is also a login screen that allows users to login and track the unit on street level maps.
The company has a long list of applications for the unit, and as the miniaturization of the gps receiver shrinks, one has to wonder where are these things headed? Will every car, kid, laptop, pallet of goods have one of these things?
