Lowrance Announces the iFinder Hunt C GPS

Lowrance has announced the launch of their Lowrance iFinder Hunt C handheld GPS, the only color GPS specifically designed by hunters for hunters. "The new iFINDER Hunt C with color display offers everything you'd expect in a versatile, precision mapping GPS unit made for the field, including hunting-specific icons, unique "Scout Mode", electronic compass, barometric altimeter, built-in microphone, and more!"

On top of some pretty good handheld GPS features, the iFinder Hunt C includes unique icons to for tree-stands, game signs, ATV's, and vehicles. The Scout mode lets you mark perimeter areas and create borders to a particular hunting region. It has a built in compass and barometer which allows for weather predictions. The microphone allows you to leave voice tags on a particular site. It's water tight and comes in a nice RealTree camo pattern.

I had the Hunt black and white and its a great machine but I exchanged it as the 16 Channel Color was coming out. Let me tell you something about Lowrance, they are tops!, I have been a Purchasing Agent/Buyer for years and when I call Lowrance or email them, they are right there to explain with very knowledgeable staff in timely manner their products. This product is one of the best, with bells and whistles and a great value. Buy Lowrance!

Review II, two month's of use
I have been very pleased with the Lowrance Hunt C, the Reflective screen background gives a better in Sunlight view than the older Black and White Unit.

I have no problem getting a 3D Fix in my house and the WAAS feature has brought me very accurate info. The Track Smooth, Memory Status, POI downloads from PC to SD Card and to the GPS are just a few features not found in the Garmin 60csx. Over the weekend I took the scouts out and a Garmin user was astonished at the details the Hunt C displayed, which by the way saved the day for some lost scouts. The hunting units are displayed as well when it may be critical to know if you are in the right hunting unit.

I am very impressed with all the small trails and points of interests that the Hunt C displays. I will be happy to answer any questions a buyer may have on this item.

I tried out the new Lowrance I finder Hunt C and felt the top maps to be quite good, perhaps could be updated. On the other side I thought the unit was sluggish in acquiring my position. Has any one else found this. How does it it relate to the Garmin 60CX?

i found it to be very sluggish in aquiring position also i had the first one sent back though that it was the unit but the new one was the same.
I installed a navonics chart in it after a few times turning it on it got even worst.I had to set to defult to get it to log on.
Have anybody else had this problem.

I posted two earlier comments, I have now changed my mind, My first Hunt C ended up being defective, and now after 6 months of use from my 2nd unit, it has stopped acquiring satellites and I had to send it in now during the peak of hunting season, outside of the dealer warranty time, Lowrance confirmed it was unrepairable and will send me yet a third, A gps that needs to support its claims and it doesn't. The old Garmin 12 unit acquired satellites much better. Everybody go with a Garmin with the siRf receiver.

LOWRANCE HUNT C UPGRADED!
As I mentioned in an earlier review, I sent my HuntC in for repairs, They sent me a new one (overnight) at their expense, just in time for the weekend.
This unit has be upgraded, It now has more icons, it has a larger screen from the 2.6 to 2.8 (big difference). I personally believe that they upgraded the receiver, I have 3D fix with Waas lock in the house anywhere in the house, and a constant 3D Fix under the deepest folage out in the woods, I tried it out today 9/2006, Great in canyons and +/- 15ft. in a moving vehicle. It has a reception never known before, I truly enjoy the update on this system. I also tested the unit for "return to waypoint" and it was right there with an accuracy of 5ft. The initial fireup of the unit gained a fix before I can even manuever to the Satellite Screen, It's that fast (anywhere).

It's acquisition time is fantastic, It is 50% or more faster then the original Lowrance C I had that worked properly. And it stays on a 3D lock much better than the 1st edition. I hope this information will be beneficial to you.
