Garmin StreetPilot C340 Arrives for Review at GPS Lodge
We are happy to have yet another automotive GPS for review here at the GPS Lodge. We have been cycling through a few, and this time we get to drive around with the Garmin StreetPilot C340
for a couple of weeks. The StreetPilot C340 is in the upper part of the mid-tier for the automotive segment. The Garmin C-series adds some features above and beyond the lower end i-series that we recently reviewed (see Garmin StreetPilot i3 Review). The StreetPilot C340 most notably adds a larger touchscreen, and the ability to use the GTM-10 antenna to receive FM based traffic feeds.

We took the StreetPilot C340 for a quick tour of the town recently to get a first impression of how it works and how it performs. The nice thing is that the interface is familiar and similar to the Garmin i-series, with a few added bells and whistles. The touch screen is great, bright and easy to use. The huge pre-loaded Point of Interest database comes in handy with everything from stores to restaurants, and so on. A nice added feature s the fact that the Garmin StreetPilot C340 announces the turn, and the street name in a fairly normal human tone voice. so instead of "Turn right in 400 feet", you get "Turn right on Maple Street in 400 feet". Keep coming back to see our full review in a few weeks.
