Quick Overview of the Fitness GPS Market

There's a decent overview of the Fitness GPS market floating around that I thought I would pass along. It discusses the well known Garmin Forerunner series. Two other products it discusses work with mobile phones as part of your fitness routine. I don't know about you, but I never go for a run or long bike ride without my phone. It seems like a natural fit. The story dicusses the FWRD products out of Europe, and the Bones in Motion (BIM) product/service.
The FWRD product actually uses your mobile phone to display activity while you are on your workout, and then the FWRD data recorder downloads to a computer to allow you to view and manipulate the data. The screen shots look impressive.
BIM is both an online fitness journal and a place to get software that allows you to use your GPS enabled mobile phone to record your workouts. The software then sends the workout data to the online journal for you to use and view. The mobile phone software costs $9.99 per month for a subscription. The free online journal is similar in nature to the MotionBased system that Garmin bought last year.
