Audiovox GPS Models hit the Market: NVX216, NVX226, NVX406

This may be old news for some, but we see that Audiovox is starting to hit the market with some GPS units of their own (Is it me or is everyone getting on this band wagon?). The entry level will be their NVX216 product that will feature a 2.2 inch touch screen, 1GB of memory and US maps. It reportedly has over 1.6 million points of interest, MP3 features and navigation through car speakers via FM modulation. List price on the NVX216 is $599.
The next level up is the NVX226 that has a 3.5” touch screen and turn-by-turn voice guided directions. It will not play MP3’s though. It will ship with1GB flash memory and full map of the United States. It comes with a cradle with built in speaker and windshield mounting bracket. It also includes a built in rechargeable battery. This is a big plus, as it lets you plan trips out of the car or use the power outlet to charge any of the other electronic devices that you have floating around the car.

The NVX406 is the top of the line and includes 4GB hard drive and basic MP3 and PDA functions. It is also XM ready. It has a Rechargeable Li-Ion battery with reportedly a 34 hr operation time. It includes dashboard/windshield-mounting kit. Its list price is $799, we’ve seen them in the $500+ range. Don’t know about you, but it looks pretty big….
Anyway, these are starting to hit outlets about now, but I might wait until I hear how they work before I buy.
