GPS Review: Another Solid Review for TomTom ONE

CNet has posted their review of the TomTom ONE after getting their hands on one. My hunch is that Bonnie wasn’t too happy to have been scooped by Craig Ellison over at PC Mag (See our post) who had a TomTom ONE to review before the press release last week. Anyway, CNet has taken a look at the TomTom ONE GPS Nagivation System and has similar conclusions, simple, easy to use basic GPS system that gets you there in style for a decent price.
The only real issue CNet surfaced was as follows: “Our biggest complaint with the TomTom One, however, is its POI database. You get all the major attractions, including gas stations, lodging, and ATMs, and more specialized categories, such as concert halls and golf courses. However, like some other systems, restaurants aren't broken down by type of cuisine. Also, we noticed that some of the POI entries were outdated. For example, it listed an ice cream shop in our neighborhood that's been out of business for more than a year.” This can be an issue with all GPS systems, but is a nagging issue with TomTom who seems to be slightly more out of date with their US models than key competition.
Overall, CNet thought that it was a solid "entry-level", no-frills offering, and one that gets a relatively high 7.7/10 rating.
