HP to Release new Widescreen iPaq with GPS – RX5915

In what may be a frontal assult to the Garmin Nuvi franchise, HP is hitting them from the PDA side of the wall with a new widescreen iPaq that is being called a “travel companion”. Sound familiar? The unit will come with the SiRF star III chipset, as well as other big features that make it stand up as a full fledged PDA – WiFi, Bluetooth, a Samsung 400Mhz processor, 2GB of flash memory and 64MB of ROM.
Pricing looks to be in the $600 range. Europe as a first market, but stay tuned for US announcements soon, I would imagine.
Update: Now shipping at Amazon and available in the US.
