TomTom Firmware Update 6.51 for Go 510, 710, 910

A new Firmware is our for the new TomTom GO 510, 710, and 910 that is available through your TomTom HOME application. The new Version 6.51 offers a few nice upgrades like FM based TMC traffic support, and TomTom Car Connect; a support feature that better links your TomTom with your Bluetooth units that might already be a part of your car.
TomTom and TMC
Most people are familiar with TomTom GO models and their TomTom PLUS traffic services, but maybe you didn’t know about the fact that TomTom supports TMC traffic updates. So while you may have seen the TMC receiver on the TomTom website, you didn’t have software support. Now you do. The TMC service is free right now; let’s hope it continues. TMC is quickly becoming a standard for many GPS units, and allows for the reception of FM signals that are broadcast in the US by ClearChannel stations. The unit receives these otherwise silent channels and funnels the information onto the screen as traffic alerts, accidents, etc. that the GO units will be able to use to navigate you the best route around these time wasters.
CarConnect
This is a unit that gets installed by a certified technician and hides somewhere behind your dash. The TomTom GO is then able to talk to your car, playing turn commands, phone calls and MP3 files through your car stereo unit. Also it is possible for the unit to switch between day and night colors when you turn on your headlights. Interesting stuff – let’s hope that the instructions are clear for the technicians so you don’t end up with a mess back there.
Install through TOMTOM HOME
The new firmware version is offered through TomTom's HOME desktop application. Connect your TomTom GO to your computer and check for updates. You can then download and install the Program: TomTom Application for GO 510, 710, 910 program. Enjoy.
