New GPS: Route 66 Chicago 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000
Route 66 has announced a new line of Euro GPS units, dubbed “Chicago”, in several variations: Chicago 6000, Chicago 7000, Chicago 8000 and Chicago 9000. Generally they are offering single country/region and pan-Euro models at different price points. What is interesting is that they are seling these and claiming that these are the slimmest wide-screen GPS navigators available, and at 24 mm, that is true… until the Garmin Nuvi 660 hits the market at 23mm. Either way, this will continue the pressure on the GPS manufacturers to keep going thin. I am a big fan of thin GPS units, and think that overall, the user experience is just better.
