Trouble ahead for SiRF?

DigiTimes is bringing up a good question about SiRF the almost omnipresent GPS chip supplier. Can they hold prices, or are competition catching up and delivering a better value for these components? So, while GPS systems are taking off, there is extreme pricing pressure to get these units at cheaper and cheaper prices. Apparently, based on costs of SiRF chips and a basic 3.5 inch touchscreen, it's tough to get low cost GPS units out there, so there might be a shift away from SiRF for some lower end manufacturers, or pressure brought on them by larger manufacturers so that they can compete with the second tier GPS makers. Look for more low cost models in the new year.
