Review: Mio P350 PDA/GPS

Another review has popped up on the Mio P350 PDA/GPS that I thought I would pass along. The unit is a Windows Mobile 5 based PDA with a SiRF star III chipset and an integrated (NOT a flip up) antenna to allow it to act as a full-fledged GPS navigation system. Despite the SiRF star III chipset, this review points out that the unit was sluggish to pick up a signal and lock onto it. I have had a few GPS units do this, and it is really tough to integrate the GPS into your routine when you need to wait for the unit to acquire a signal. I mean you either sit in the car waiting and wasting precious minutes, or you are playing with the thing a mile down the road when it finally wakes up. Now, we ran across another review of the Mio P350 by Clove that didn't have these issues. You'll have to consider the sources and decide for yourself.
The Pocket-Link overall verdict was that they "are not convinced by the MioMap software, but the PDA itself does what it says on the tin. The added advantage is that you can get portable, so you can use whatever mapping software you want, and you can go off road, so long as your battery holds out, which is documented at 4.5 hours, but we didn’t ratify this in the tests."
