Inrix Enters European Traffic Flow Data Market

Inrix, announced today the availability of real-time traffic flow data for key cities within the United Kingdom. Data will be supplied by ITIS Holdings, the UK’s leading provider of traffic flow information and Inrix will have access to traffic for London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bradford, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds and Liverpool in Q4, 2006. This appears to set the stage for Inrix to do more and more high quality traffic feed data in key markets outside the US.
“Our global customers want to deploy traffic-enabled applications across the international markets they serve,” said Inrix President and CEO Bryan Mistele. “By having access to data from ITIS in the UK and other leading regional providers of traffic information across Europe, Inrix can provide a single source for traffic.”
The Inrix Smart Dust Network combines anonymous, real-time GPS probe data from more than 625,000 commercial fleet, delivery and taxi vehicles with other real-time traffic flow information and hundreds of market-specific criteria that affect traffic. Inrix aggregates construction and road closures, real-time incidents, sporting events, weather forecasts and school schedules, combining them in Inrix’s advanced Traffic Fusion Engine to greatly expand traffic coverage and improve accuracy well beyond any other traffic service on the market today.
