New North American Map Updates for TomTom - Special Prices

TomTom let me know this morning that they released their map updates for their personal navigation devices, and they are available for a limited time at a reduced price of $49. The deal is good through February 9,2007. What's in the TomTom Map Updates? The new update features 410,000 miles of new roads in the US and Canada, six million POI, including half a million new POI and should really fill in a lot of blanks for users.
The normal cost is $149, so the limited time offer is a pretty good deal. See the FAQ at the link below for more details, and how you can back up your favorites file because if you don't the map update can wipe them out.

How does this affect users contemplating buying one of these that already has the older maps loaded. Any arrangement for a free upgrade since the new maps released. I was thinking about the TomTom ONE. I'm on the fence over it as I really want a GPS now but I am interested in the Dash Express which won't be in my area until the latter half of next year.
The TomTom North American Map upgrade will be free to owners of the ONE, 510, 910 and the Nav 6 products, and you simply pay for shipping of the DVD ($6). According to the TomTom website, you will get your maps in about 3-4 weeks.
So if you want to buy a new TomTom right now, you can still get the map upgrades almost free ($6 shipping), and you can still be using your new TomTom for the first few months of 2007!
Right now there is no estimate on when the TomTom’s will start showing up in stored pre-loaded with 2007 maps. My guess is that it will take at least into February to see these at the shelf.
If you own a GO 300, 700, RIDER or NAV5, and you haven’t used your map upgrade voucher, you're OK too.
If you have already used your voucher and still want to upgrade now, you have until February 9, 2007 to get the discounted rate ($49).
