Pioneer AVIC-Z2
At CES 2007, Pioneer announced an updated AVIC model, the AVIC-Z2 in dash entertainment and navigation wonder. The nig news here is that the unit will learn frequently used roads and incorporate them into suggested routes when appropriate. I predicted smarter navigation like this back in December as one of the trends I expect to emerge in the CES and coming year. Who’d a thought I would be right. Anyway, the technology is there, let’s hope it works, as I see this as an area for improvement with routing.
The new Pioneer AVIC-Z2 includes an updated TeleAtlas map database with more accurate mapping data, XM Satellite Traffic, and bunch of entertainment options including audio and video, connectivity to your iPod and Bluetooth phones. The 10GB hard drive should make for another great place to stow some songs in your life. It plays DVD video and DVD-R/-RW for an alternate video screen while you truck down the road listening to your own music.
The Pioneer AVIC 2200 is expected to cost $2200 and be available in April 2007.
