Now joining JVC’s high-end EXAD line is the KD-NX5000, a 1-DIN HDD-navigation DVD/CD receiver with a built-in 3.5-inch monitor. This receiver has a built in HDD with a total of a 40GB capacity: 16GB for map navigation and 24GB for music. The superb HDD navigation provides quick and easy destination search, with data on more than 13 million points of interest (POI). The music server can store approximately 5000 songs in MP3, WAV or WMA format. You can navigate and play CDs at the same time. With additional devices, the KD-NX5000 is also compatible with Bluetooth® Wireless Technology, a rear-view camera, and an iPod®.

Navigation Highlights

HDD Map Navigation
The HDD navigation contains map coverage of the U.S. (all 50 states), Canada and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with voice guidance in three languages (English/French/Spanish). The high-sensitivity WAAS-enabled GPS gives you accurate navigation, while the built-in RDS-TMC tuner helps avoid traffic jams with real-time traffic information. Destinations can be searched for in multiple ways: POI (category/name/vicinity/phone number), address, last 50 destinations, favorite destinations and latitude/longitude. Points of Interest are grouped into easy to use categories such as restaurants, gas stations and hotels.

HDD Media Receiver Highlights

24 GB Music Server
The massive 24GB HDD music server is compatible with MP3, WMA and WAV files, and is capable of storing the equivalent of 5000 songs in MP3 or WMA format. For CD tracks recorded and played on the system, JVC-original Lossless Encoder Technology retains the original high quality. GIGA MP3 MULTI is extremely useful for managing huge archives—its high-speed copy function transfers a 60-minute MP3 disc in 1.5 minutes. Track information (album title, artist name, song title) can be easily tagged by burning PC-ripped CD contents onto a CD-ROM, then uploading them.

Navigation, Movies and Music Are All-in-One
The navigation system can play CD music, DVD movies, CDs and DVDs with JPEG still photos, MPEG 1/2 video files, or DivX® movies (DivX® Ultra Certified). Images or song information are displayed on the wide 3.5-inch monitor.

HDD Navigation Advantages

The large-capacity HDD contains a vast amount of map information, with no need to change discs like with DVD navigation. More than 13 million POI are provided to help search for restaurants, gas stations, hotels, etc.

RDS-TMC Tuner
The KD-NX5000 comes with a built-in RDS-TMC traffic tuner. Pressing the “Traffic” key on the remote control gives you real-time information on traffic jams, accidents, road narrowing and more.
*Subscription service required

Advanced Navigation Features
The system features high-speed route calculation and map viewing from two angles (2D/3D), for greatly enhanced convenience. Updating the HDD map is simple—just purchase an update disc online and load it to the system.

Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
An optional adapter (KS-BTA200) allows wireless connection with compatible mobile phones and digital audio players. A maximum of five mobile phones can be registered for hands-free calling. With voice-recognition mobile phones, you can dial by just saying the name in your phone book. The wireless functions work even if your mobile phone is tucked away in your bag or pocket. You can also stream music from a compatible digital audio player, for listening on your car stereo.

Ready for iPod®
Your iPod can be connected with the optional KS-PD100 Adapter and controlled with the headunit.

Built on Microsoft® Windows® Automotive Platform
The KD-NX5000 is built on Microsoft Windows Automotive technology for its stable and reliable multimedia functionality that enables future generations of in-car digital lifestyle.

KV-CM1KD- Optional Rear-View Camera
An optional rear-view camera can be attached for greater safety. Its ultra-compact size allows it to be set up wherever you like.

Does this NX5000 unit have any offroad navigation capabilities ?
Eg. Where no "road" or trail exists on a map, can I drive it and map it out ? Save it to computer ?
