Via Michelin X-930: $199 at Amazon

So the Via Michelin X930 has come to the US in a big way. It showed up over the holidays at J&R music but is now shipping at Amazon. The unit is the first in what I expect to be many Via Michelin units hitting the US shores. The US market is growing fast for GPS systems, and there are still millions of people who don't have them, so it makes for a fertile market.
The Via Michelin X930 is powered by the SiRF star III chipset, a 3.5 inch screen, and has the 48 continental US states pre-loaded. The one review up on Amazon rates it well, but a recent review of the Via Michelin X-930 from the UK is scathing. The issues were all in navigation, which may have to do with the UK implementation, or it may have to do with the underlying navigation engine. ZDNet (UK) has a better point of view in their review of the X930, giving it 4 of 5 stars. We'll see as more people in the US take a look at it.

The pocketlink review was done in Feb. 06, at this time ViaMichelin was using version 4 of its navigation software. The US version of the X-930 now uses version 5 of ViaMichelin Navigation, where all the bugs have been corrected. This is why recent reviews by american users are much better (as the product is too...).
