Foarm eTrex Case - Excellent

FoarmFront.jpg

I am always searching for a good solution for carrying my eTrex Vista C while hiking or Geocaching, and I bought this case recently that is the best I have seen in a long time. The case is made by Foarm, and is designed specifically for the eTrex Cx line, including the Garmin eTrex Venture Cx , Garmin eTrex Legend Cx , Garmin eTrex Vista Cx . The case WILL also fit the now discontinued eTrex “C” series that preceded the “X” designation; the case WILL NOT fit the monochrome eTrex line as those are longer and narrower than the newer Cx line.

FoarmLanyard.jpgCase Design
The case is stiff, nicely protective, comes with a lanyard with a clip, and a metal belt clip that creates a snug fit without having to fight to get the thing off and on your belt. The material reminds me of the texture you see with the spray on bed liners for pickup trucks, skid resistant and pliable, but with the hard backing, the case is durable.

The case is easy to open and close, and has a clamshell hinge at the top edge of the case. The lanyard snaked through the base and terminates in the lid to allow it to serve as a sort of lock for the case. There is a slide that you can snug up against the case if you want to keep the thing locked for sure. In my use, the lanyard fed through the case provided enough frictional resistance that the case stayed closed in my travels. You will need to take any attachment off the back of the eTrex if you want to stick it into the case; put them in a safe place and don’t lose them.

Again, the belt clip was snug and secure without having to wrestle it onto your belt with some incredible effort. It's metal and snakes through the back of the case, so I expect that it will hold up to tough use.

Overall, for the ~$15 price, I am impressed with this little case, and look forward to using it on all my hikes with my eTrex.

They also have cases to fit the GPSMap 72/76 family, including a non-skid rubber, molded rubber, and a woven fabric case with a belt loop.

I cannot source one of these anywhere! Can anyone please let me know where I can purchase one of these. There are very limited carrying options for the etrex vista hcx. I am In the UK, and amazon.com have discontinued this item. Anyone know where I can get one, or is willing to part with theirs?

Cheers.

Foarm still sells them through Amazon. Check back there; I just did and they had them. Follow the link above to see them selling it "From these sellers" - not directly through Amazon.

PS - I still LOVE mine.
