Price Drop: TomTom ONE $217; Free Shipping
The TomTom ONE is now $217 with FREE SHIPPING at Amazon. Prices are way down on this, very solid entry level receiver. It gives reliable directions and with the new TeleAtlas maps, the issues with out of date maps are gone. There are some things that I wish the TomTom ONE had, like store level POI’s; in other words, you can’t search by store name, but the unit has very good routing, up to date maps and is very easy to use. You can’t get a better GPS at this price right now, and I think it is below fair price according to my look at prices for this spring and summer.

I'll start by saying that I believe that the map issues are gone on the TomTom.
I think that Text to Speech is worth paying for, but if you are going to pay $310 for the C340, then bite the bullet and pay $365 for the Nuvi 350. The flat form factor and the better chipset (SiRF star III) are two things that are worth the extra money.
So, then you need to ask yourself if you want text to speech, for the upcharge from $217 to $365????
The Nuvi 350 does have a bigger POI database, one thing that was left off the TomTom ONE to also help make it less expensive. So the TomTom ONE can search for shopping center names (do you know the name of the shopping plazas around you? - I don't), while the Garmin can search for stores; i.e. The Gap, Whole Foods, Starbucks, etc.
A lot to weigh; the Nuvi 350 is a better unit, but only you can decide if the $140 upcharge is worth it for your wallet.

Scott,
This is for my wife. I have the original Quest and it is a graet unit..however, I can not stand loading maps everytime she needs it. It gets to be a pain. I thought about adding the mps on the GPS so they will always be there but the maps are huge and all wont fit in the internal memory. She is currently liking the unit without the text to speech. I cant decide whether this is really worth 100 dollars more. I have the MIO 310X and easily live without the street name being called out. Since writing, I have been thinking about the c330 from Garmin since I can get it for 249. I like the NavTeq maps much better than the Mio's. I like the TT1 but my wife likes to look up stores and then go to them...the TT1 seems to be lacking here...I guess it really comes down to the C330. Have
you any experience with the c330?
