Magellan - 2008 CES Awards

So Magellan won a couple of awards ahead of the CES 2008 trade show scheduled for just after the new year in January. The annual trade show brings out the best of the best and is the big electronics show to kick off the New Year. This year, the Magellan Maestro 4250 automotive unit and the Triton 2000 handheld unit are being honored with Innovations Design and Engineering Awards. Clearly their partnerships with AAA and National Geographic are big players in the award as Magellan has worked hard to include data from third parties to bolster the sometimes-anemic information that is usually a part of a standard offering.

"Magellan is proud to be recognized for its Maestro 4250 and Triton 2000 GPS solutions by the industry experts who comprise the judging committee for these prestigious awards," said Christian Bubenheim, vice president of product marketing for Magellan. "We design innovative navigation solutions, which marry pioneering industrial design with the most robust feature sets on the market and best-in-class partner brands like AAA and National Geographic. It's exciting to have that validated by the industry as well as our customers."

Maestro 4250
The Magellan Maestro 4250 boasts the industry's thinnest industrial design and an impressive 4.3" wide WQVGA color touch screen. With integrated real-time traffic, exclusive voice command and control, SayWhere(TM) text-to-speech technology, and the only personal navigation systems that offers integrated AAA TourBook(R) guide travel information and member Roadside Assistance details, the Maestro 4250 delivers the most advanced navigation experience possible.

Triton 2000
With a highly intuitive user interface designed for ease-of-use, the Triton 2000 is the next-generation handheld GPS for precision outdoor navigation. Rugged and waterproof (IPX-7), the Triton 2000 features a large, full-color touch screen that shows maps and data with crystal clear graphics. The only handheld with a two-megapixel camera, voice recorder and LED flashlight, comes with SD-card expandability, enabling users to take pictures and capture sounds to record their adventures as they navigate, and store information to reference later or share with others. User's can also expand their navigation capabilities with optional topographic maps, marine cartography, and other applications. Triton is the first handheld GPS to offer compatibility with National Geographic maps.

In addition, with Magellan's exclusive VantagePoint(TM) software, users can easily manage and upload detailed maps, user generated content, updates and upgrades on any PC. View saved routes and tracks. Customize them for future trips or create new ones.
