Garmin using MediaTek Chips in Nuvi 2x5 Series
According to DigiTimes, Garmin is using MediaTek GPS chips in its new line of Garmin Nuvi 2X5 GPS units with HotFix technology. The capability is aimed at reducing satellite acquisition times by predicting where satellites will be and then when you turn the unit on the next day it essentially knows where to look.
DigiTimes is pretty good at getting the stories right collecting the dirt on the street in Taiwan and letting the world know the story. After a long lag time, I thought that they might have missed when they reported that Garmin was working on a mobile phone, but hey, now we're waiting for the launch of the Nuvifone; there you go.

I thought Garmin was using the Cartesio SOC chipset from STMicro!
Maybe they intend to use multiple suppliers.
