Top 5 Rated GPS - Consumer Reports

nuvi760rf.jpg

The Garmin Nuvi 760 came out on top of Consumer Reports' latest GPS rating, with TomTom and Magellan also rounding out the top 5. It's not a big surprise that these three occupy the top 5, I have always said, it's easy to design a GPS, but it's hard to design a good one. The big guys have been designing their units for years, and the difference is a solid understanding of the basics, with a very good interface. I am still not as impressed with the Magellan interface still as the Garmin and TomTom interfaces.

The Top 5 were:

  • Garmin Nuvi 760 (See my Garmin Nuvi 760 Full Review),
  • Garmin Nuvi 660 (See my Garmin Nuvi 660 Full Review),
  • TomTom Go 920T, (See my TomTom GO 920T Full Review),
  • Garmin Nuvi 350, and
  • Magellan Maestro 4250 .

Is there a GPS out there that gives you the business
route when traveling. We travel pulling a 5th wheel
some times and need this information so we don't hit any low over passes. We were in PA two years ago and was following the directions of our GPS when
I no sooner turned a corner there was an over pass
which I did not have time to react to and took out
part of my antenna and vents.

After recently review the Consumer Reports I agree about the Garmin Nuvi 760, & Nuvi 660...Though my favorite and the unit I use is the Garmin Nuvi 350... All around Great System, very dependable even in environments that you would think your not going to get a satellite signal it always comes thru. Something I didn't think I would use that I began to love that a lot of Nuvi systems have is the Audible.com book reader. It's so nice to be on a long trip and have someone read a book to you, great convenience.
I give the Garmin Nuvi 350 5 stars for being affordable ,dependable and easy to use.
