Another review has popped up on the Cobra NavOne 4500 over at CNet. We used the Cobra NavOne 4500 for about a month and reviewed it here at the GPS Lodge last November. We liked it for its large screen and the luxury of features that you can put on such a large screen. (Read our review). The size was an issue for us as the unit fell off the windshield one day as I was driving down the road, but Cobra tells me that they are fixing this mount problem. We weren't so impressed with the traffic feeds as they seemed to show things in better light than I thought they should be, but they show promise and I believe that traffic feeds are THE feature of GPS units for the car in the coming years. John Delaney over at CNet wrote in their review that they thought the Cobra NavOne 4500 was excellent and gave it 8.3 out of 10 (Excellent), and said the "Overall the NavOne is a winner."
GPS Review: Cobra NavOne 4500 Review from GPS Lodge
We have been driving around New England for a few weeks now under the guidance of the Cobra NavOne 4500 GPS and overall this is a sound device that can get you from here to there in the lap of screen real estate luxury. We really had a pleasure using the Cobra NavOne 4500 gps for this review. There are lots of bells and whistles to entice you to buy this one, and overall the unit is sound. It's a big old thing, and with that come a few luxuries and a few minor annoyances but all in all, it's a good unit. Right now, the Cobra NavOne 4500 GPS is available at Amazon with FREE SHIPPING.
Cobra NavOne 4500 GPS arrives for Review at the GPS Lodge
The Cobra NavOne 4500 car GPS arrived for review at the GPS Lodge, and wow is this BIG. It is strikingly huge with its bright 5" screen and is heavy look and feel. The design is somewhat retro with its chrome trim and its sharper defined edges. Kindof cool. I took it for a few tours around town briefly and the featureset is very big also; I feel pampered with the self dimming screen, the voice navigation that warns me with plenty of notice, and then gives a visual countdown to the turn with a little bar chart over on the side of the screen (with so much screen real estate you can afford to do this).
Cobra announed that they are launching the Cobra NavOne 4500 that they started teasing us about a few weeks ago. according to the press release, the feature set looks impressive, and the large screen luxurious in comparison to some of the other products on the marketplace. It will be available in September.
Cobra has started a teaser campaign for a new Cobra that is pre-announcing the NAV ONE 4500 with Real-Time traffic information. This would most likely be similar to the Garmin StreetPilot2720 and StreetPilot 340 - the FM, RDS signal from Clearchannel. See our articles on the StreetPilot 2720 or the StreetPilot c340, as well as our comparison of the StreetPilot 2720 vs. the RoadMate 760.
